January 29, 1917 - January 21, 2007

Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa, IA Visitation: Visitation begins at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 23rd January 23, 2007 at Hedrick - Martinsburg United Methodist Church Funeral Service: 11:00 O'Clock A.M. January 24, 2007 at Hedrick Martinsburg United Methodist Church, Hedrick, Iowa. Interment: Brooks Cemetery in Hedrick, Iowa. Dorothy M. Arendt, age 89 of Hedrick, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Hedrick – Martinsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Kim Gates officiating. Burial will follow at the Brooks Cemetery in Hedrick. Visitation begins at 12 noon on Tuesday at the Hedrick – Martinsburg United Methodist Church with the family present from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday evening. Memorials may be made to the Hedrick – Martinsburg United Methodist Church or to Keokuk County Hospice. Dorothy May Davis Arendt, daughter of Norton and Clarinda “Rennie” Bottorff Davis, was born on January 29, 1917 in Wapello County, IA. She graduated from Hedrick High School in 1935. On June 12, 1935, Dorothy was united in marriage to Rudolph Arendt. They farmed in the Hedrick area for many years. She was a member of the Hedrick – Martinsburg United Methodist Church and the Hedrick Eastern Star, of which she was a former Worthy Matron. Dorothy was a talented quilter and won first prize at the 1987 National Quilt Show in Paducah, KY. Dorothy’s memory is honored by her two sisters; Helen Kielkopf of Hedrick and Ruth Green of Ottumwa; her son-in-law, Ralph Pilkington of Albion, NE; her three grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Annette Pilkington of Golden, CO, Douglas and Jill Pilkington of Elkhorn, NE, and Mary Ann and Troy Michels of Eagle Lake, MN; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Dec. 10, 2006 and her daughter, Rella Pilkington in 2002.
