Harold "Keith" Norris

January 28, 1925 - July 10, 2004

Iowa City, Iowa Visitation: Open after 10:00 A.M. with family present between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. July 12, 2004 at Fremont Funeral Chapel Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. July 13, 2004 at Fremont Funeral Chapel Interment: Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa, Iowa. Keith was born south of Fremont, on January 28th, 1925 the son of Harold L. and Ruth N. Scarborough Norris. He was raised in the Hedrick area and graduated from Hedrick High School in 1944. He was united in marriage to Joan Craft on May 21st, 1944. Keith farmed his entire life in the Hedrick and Farson areas and also was a tiling contractor from 1957 until 2003. His memory is honored by his wife, Joan of Hedrick, two sons, Larry and his wife Debbie of Osceola, AR; Jim and his wife Miriam of Woodbury, MN; two daughters, Kathy and her husband Denny Shimp of Alliance, NE, and Connie and her husband Bob Fisher of Liberty, MO; a brother Kenneth Norris of Red Oak, IA., and a sister Mary Ellen and her husband Rex Herman of Hedrick. Six grandchildren, David and Mike Norris, Doug Shimp, Kari Carr, Shana Rich, and Shad Fisher, and two great-grandchildren, Dale Norris and Shelby Carr. He was preceded in death by his parents. In March 1945, Keith entered the U.S. Army and served in W.W.II, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He returned from the service in October 1946. Keith was affiliated with the Hedrick/Martinsburg United Methodist Church, was a member and Past National and State President of the Land Improvement Contractors Association, and this past year was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, was a member and past president of the Hedrick Lions Club, past Commander of the Arendt Bowlin Stubbs American Legion Post #83 of Hedrick, and was a member of the Keokuk County Park Commission board. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his grandchildren. A memorial has been established in his name.
