Helen Jakson Wimpsett Meier

Mrs. Meier was a homemaker and mother. Helen was legally blind for 57 years but was a very independent woman who did her own cooking, and lived alone until she moved to the Bloomfield Nursing Home. She later transferred to the Good Samaritan Care Center in Davenport. She loved to crochet for hours even though she was blind. She was a very hard worker and overcame many hardships. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Bloomfield. Helen is survived by two sons; John Meier of Lake View, Iowa, and Merl (Cindy) Meier of Creston, Iowa, two daughters; Janice Carroll of Davenport, Iowa and Janet Katzin of Agency, Iowa, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and a brother Verl Jackson of Ottumwa. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers; Merl, Gene, Glen, Clair “Doc”, and Leonard Jackson, three sisters; Fern Hawk, Edith Knott and Minnie Withers, two sons; Richard Withers and Wesley Wimpsett and a daughter; Judy Davidson, and three companions; Homer Wimpsett, Loren Meier, and Lawrence McCreery. Memorial may be made to the Helen Meier Memorial Fund.
