Brentwood, Tennessee Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. February 03, 2009 at Fremont Funeral Chapel Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. February , 2009 at Fremont Funeral Chapel Interment: Abel Cemetery near Hedrick, Iowa Linda Karen Shaw Shultz, 67, went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2009. Linda was born to Waldo and Mildred Shaw on January 9, 1942, in Hedrick, Iowa. She graduated from Hedrick High School in 1960. She attended American Institute of Business school in Des Moines following high school. Following her education, she married Ed Shultz and during their marriage they lived in Iowa, Michigan, Massachusetts, and Tennessee. During her lifetime, Linda enjoyed spending time with family, spoiling grandchildren, traveling around the world, managing their farmland, making lasting memories with friends, and working on charitable events. She was always looking for ways to serve others. In every community that Linda lived, she was active in the church, community events, and charitable organizations. If there was an event to organize, she was usually the one leading it. If there was a party to attend, she was always there (with a new pair of shoes), and if a friend was in need, she was usually the first to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her friends and family describe her as a woman of amazing faith who had the gift of ministering to others. Linda was a member of the Brentwood Baptist Church, the Brentwood Baptist Church Women’s Nurture Team, Brentwood Women’s Club, Brentwood Women’s Club Alumni Association, West Hills Women’s Club, Williamson County Republican Women’s Club, Friendship Club of Williamson County, Christian Women in the Marketplace, New Neighbors, Brentwood Birthday Club, Red Hat Society, Professional Education Organization, and various cancer support groups and Bible study groups. In 2007, she and Ed founded the Linda Shultz Charity Shoot for American Cancer Society. She was very proud of the Charity Shoot because she was passionate about finding a cure for cancer for others as well as herself. Linda is survived by her husband Lee E. “Ed” Shultz of Brentwood, Tennessee, daughter and son-in-law Bill and Robin Spooner of Kansas City, Missouri, son and daughter-in-law, Tad and Beth Shultz of Boston, Massachusetts, grandchildren Taylor, Jack and Avery Spooner of Kansas City, Missouri, mother Mildred Shaw, Nashville, Tennessee, mother-in-law Dorothy Shultz Gorman, of Sigourney, Iowa, brother and sister–in-law Lyle and Janice Shaw of Southbury, Connecticut, niece and her husband Christine and John David Cowart and their children Philip and KayLeigh, nephew and his wife Greg and Vicky Shaw and their children Austin and Tyler. Linda is also survived by an amazing group of friends who helped care for her during her battle with cancer. Their prayers, support, laughter, and times of fellowship kept Linda strong and supported; her family is so grateful for the love and friendship that they shared with her. Linda is preceded in death by her father Waldo L. Shaw and her father-in-law Rex Shultz, both of Hedrick, Iowa. Funeral services will be at the Fremont Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at 10:00 A.M., with Reverend Daryl Dexter, a long time family friend from Michigan, will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Abel Cemetery near Hedrick. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements. Visitation with the family will be at the Fremont Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A memorial service celebrating Linda’s full and abundant life will be held at the Brentwood Baptist Church in Brentwood, Tennessee, on Friday, February 6, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. The service will be officiated by Gayle Haywood, a dear friend and Senior Adult Ministry of Brentwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Linda Shultz Charity Shoot, c/o of the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee 37203. The lives of all who were touched by her goodness, faith, and abundant love have been truly blessed.
