Lisa Anderson

March 21, 1962 - March 21, 2022

Lisa Anderson, 60, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, March 21, 2022 at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born March 21, 1962 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was raised by her mother, Joy Stewert, with the loving help of her grandmother, Mary Brand of Fremont. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1980. Following high school she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Buena Vista University. In May of 1981, she was united in marriage to Keith Dykstra. To this union three children were born, Ryan, Kaleb, and Kelsey. Keith and Lisa later divorced. She was united in marriage to Mike Moore in August of 1998. Mike and Lisa later divorced but remained close friends. Lisa was an educator the majority of her life. She started out as a substitute teacher in Fairfield, Iowa. She then took the job as the program director at Jack and Jill Pre-School in Oskaloosa. Last she worked for the Oskaloosa School system as a substitute teacher, study hall monitor, and substitute teacher coordinator. She retired from education in 2012, as her health was failing. Lisa was diagnosed with cancer as a young Mom and only given five years to live. She was determined to live as long as she could for her children and grandchildren. She fought and was a cancer survivor of 35 years. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. When her children were young the family had fun boating, camping, canoeing, and being outdoors. She also enjoyed gardening, reading mystery novels, going to theme parks and especially riding the roller coasters. She was an avid pool player and at one point had her own cue and glove. Above all she enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Often she was “that” mom in the stands that made sure her children were doing their best and the officials called a fair game. She was an avid sports fan and had a unique way of choosing the team she would cheer for based on, colors, mascot, and attractiveness of the quarterback. She would always know the quarterback’s name but everyone else was referred to as “Buddy”. Her family includes her three children, Ryan (Carissa Davis) Dykstra of Oskaloosa, Kaleb Dykstra of Charles City, Iowa, and Kelsey Dykstra of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren, Lilyin, Hadlee Dykstra, Keagen Dykstra, Riot and Rolin Massey; two step grandchildren, Brenden and Brooklynn Grout; a brother, Tracey (Barbi) Stewart of Fort Worth, Texas; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joy; and her grandmother, Mary Brand. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont, Iowa with Reverend Melissa Sternhagen officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Township Cemetery south of Fremont. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 noon until service time at 1:30. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House.
