Fairfield, Iowa Visitation: Beginning at 12:00 noon with family present between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. February 20, 2006 at Fremont Funeral Chapel Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. February 21, 2006 at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie Interment: Ollie Cemetery Eva Marie Buttery was born July 18th, 1917 in rural Batavia, Iowa the daughter of Edward Roy Parrett and Rachel Christina Thronson Parrett. On March 5, 1939, she was united in marriage to Albert Buttery in rural Batavia, Iowa. They owned and operated Buttery Grocery in Ollie for 39 years until the time of their retirement in 1978. Marie is survived by her son, Dan and wife Judy of Fairfield, daughter, Barbara and husband James Johnson of Oskaloosa, five grandchildren; Brian and wife Tara Buttery, Curt and wife Ryannon Buttery, Laura and husband Robert Kibbe, Greg Johnson and Lynne Johnson, a great-grandson,Hayden Buttery, two sister-in-laws, Opal Parrett of Wildwood, Florida, and Ruth Buttery of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, on November 19th,2000, two brothers, Arnold and David Parrett, and a sister, Esther Whitaker. Marie attended school in Batavia and received her teacher's training at Fairfield High School graduating in 1936. She taught school for two years in Batavia and two years in Ollie. Marie was very active in building the Prairie View Church and wrote the prayer for the workers which was placed in the church. She enjoyed her family and friends, traveling, gardening, reading, cooking, flowers, pets, and was noted for her smile. She was a member of the Prairie View United Methodist Church and U.M.W., Grandmother's Club, a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, and the Ollie Betterment Club. Memorials may be made in her name to Prairie View United Methodist Church or to Alzheimer's Research.
