Susann Phillips

(Marian) Susann Phillips, 88, of Fremont died Monday, March 21, 2016, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born April 23, 1927, in Missouri, the daughter of Birty Theodore "B.T." and Ivaree Jaynes. She graduated from high school in Missouri. Susann worked for Banquet Foods for many years and retired from there in the late 1970's. In 1978, she was united in marriage to Everett "JR" C. Phillips, Jr. in Las Vegas, Nevada. JR died on August 22, 2011. Together the two of them loved to travel and they visited every state except Alaska and Hawaii. In addition to traveling, Susann enjoyed cooking and collecting teddy bears. She was a member of the Union Chapel Church, and the Auxiliaries' of the V.F.W. and Eagles. Her family includes her three daughters, Billye Parcel of Plainfield, Illinois, Patti (Kendall) Sines of Fremont, and Kathy Phillips of Galesburg, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Danny (Shelly) Brewer, Trudy (Tim) Waters, Jennifer (Ron) Carey, Jeremy (Randi) Parcel, Kennie (Donny) Haynes, Cliff (Stephanie) Sines, Johnathon (Whitney) Schisler, Jordan Parcel, and Brianna Phillips; 21 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren; and a sister in law, Doris Pearson of Albia. In addition to her husband, Susann was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Brewer; and a brother, Benny Jaynes. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation with the family present will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until service time in the Fremont Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.
